Alex Iwobi confirmed Arsenal exit with £40million move to Everton

Alex Iwobi has completed his deadline day transfer to Everton.

The winger moves to Goodison Park on a five-year contract for a fee thought to be in the region of £40million.

The 23-year-old had an impressive season for Arsenal last term but couldn't be assured of his role in the side after the Gunners completing the signings of Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe.

With the north London side completing the deals for Kieran Tierney and David Luiz on transfer deadline day, Arsenal took the decision to allow the winger to move to Everton.

The Toffees had previously been linked with a move for Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha, but chose to pursue other targets after being priced out of a move for the £80milllion-rated star.

Speaking of his departure, Unai Emery was full of praise for the academy graduate.

He said: "Alex has made a big contribution here at Arsenal. He worked hard in the academy where he was an example to many young players and has been an important part of our squad. We wish Alex every success in the future."
