Air France flight evacuated after anonymous caller reports fake explosive device

An Air France flight was evacuated on Thursday after false reports of an explosive device on board.

The flight, which took off N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, landed in Paris after being escorted by fighters jets.

It was immediately isolated, a statement said, and probed by officials.

An anonymous threat had been made about the possible presence of a device, it was later revealed.

But searches of the plane found nothing, Interior Minister Gerard Darmanin confirmed on Twitter.

He said: "No explosive device has been found aboard the Air France Ndjamena-Paris plane, end of operation."

Air France had said earlier in a statement that following the threat, Air France Flight AF865 from N'Djamena to Paris had been escorted by a French Air Force fighter plane and had landed at the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport..

An airport source told La Depeche that during the flight the pilot managed to tune into the radio frequency and broadcast a bomb threat.

"The pilot informed the company and the plane was escorted by a Rafale to Roissy", the insider said.

They added that plane "landed at a 'bomb point'", a special place at airports designated for this sort of event.
