Abha Airport: 26 injured after cruise missile fired into Saudi Arabia

At least 26 people have been injured, including two children, after Saudi Arabia's Abha airport was hit by a missile.

The missile is thought to have been launched by Yemen's Houthi group and hit the arrivals hall at the airport in the southwest of the country.

Those injured include three Yemeni, Indian and Saudi women and two Saudi children, a spokesman for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen confirmed.

Colonel Turki Almalki said eight people were taken to hospital with moderate injuries, while 18 were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The airport lounge also suffered some physical damage.

The latest attack comes a day after Saudi Arabia said it intercepted two drones fired by the Iran-aligned group, which controls a large part of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa.

The Saudi-Emirati coalition has stepped up air raids on Houthi positions in the northern Yemeni province of Hajjah.

In response, the rebels have intensified drone and missile attacks on the kingdom amid tensions between Iran and the United States, Saudi Arabia's main ally.
