BREAKING: 34 confirmed coronavirus deaths in Dumfries and Galloway

A further four people in Dumfries and Galloway have died from Covid-19.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s weekly update shows the death toll in the region now stands at 34.

They also revealed that 27 of the deaths had been in hospital, while 66 people who had been treated in hospital for coronavirus have since recovered - up from 58 a week ago

On Tuesday, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon recommended people should cover their faces while going to the shops or using public transport.

The advice is not mandatory and will not be enforced, but Ms Sturgeon said the move could provide “some benefit”.

The existing lockdown restrictions remain in force.
