13-year-old boy rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Celbridge, Co Kildare

A 13-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car.

The young lad was walking over a zebra crossing in Celbridge, Co Kildare when the incident happened today.

A local, who was working nearby, rushed to the scene and stayed with the boy until an ambulance arrived, Dublin Live reports.

The incident happened at the junction between the Newtown Road and the Dublin Road, which leads onto the bridge.

The driver remained at the scene, while the condition of the boy is not yet known.

Gardai have been contacted for a statement.
