Breakdown shows how many vaccines have been carried out in each Trust in Northern Ireland

A new breakdown from the Department of Health shows how many Covid-19 vaccines have been carried out in each Trust in Northern Ireland.

On Wednesday, Health Minister Robin Swann revealed that 25,116 vaccine doses have been administered across the country.

Those receiving the jabs include 8,031 care home residents - more than half of the Northern Ireland care home population - across 348 care homes.

Meanwhile, 9,407 care home staff have also received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccination.

When it came to specific health trusts in Northern Ireland, the South Eastern Trust have distributed the most vaccinations than anywhere else.

The Ulster Hospital, based within the South Eastern Trust, is one of Northern Ireland's largest vaccination centres.

Full breadown of Covid-19 vaccination distribution in Northern Ireland:

  • Belfast Trust: 1,425 care home residents. 1,783 care home staff. 48 care homes. 1,690 HSC staff
  • Northern Trust: 1,809 residents. 2,412 care home staff. 94 care homes. 1,190 HSC staff
  • South Eastern Trust: 2,477 residents. 2,882 care home staff. 104 care homes. 1,525 HSC staff
  • Southern Trust: 1,177 residents. 1,149 care home staff. 49 care homes. 1,088 HSC staff
  • Western Trust: 1,143 residents. 1,181 care home staff. 53 care homes. 1,585 HSC staff

Robin Swann said that the roll-out of Northern Ireland’s full vaccination programme will be accelerated by the approval of further vaccines.

He added: "The vaccination programme will grow rapidly and substantial numbers of staff will be vaccinated in the coming weeks, with this part of the programme due to be completed within the first quarter of 2021.

“We then intend to roll out the programme through Primary Care, which will be responsible for the vaccination of the majority of eligible individuals aged 50 years and over.

"GPs will start with the oldest first and the impact will become apparent around the end of February or early March."
