Breakdown of COVID numbers in every South Lanarkshire neighbourhood

New coronavirus cases in South Lanarkshire increased for the first time in a month last week.

Figures published by Public Health Scotland revealed there were 148 new cases of the virus between Saturday, April 10, and Friday, April 16 – up by 16.5 per cent on the previous week.

Despite the increase, case numbers in the region remain at levels last seen in September 2020, after 0.46 cases were recorded for every 1000 residents last week.

Carluke South recorded the highest number of new cases last week after 11 positive tests were confirmed in the area.

It also saw the highest rate of new cases last week at 3.24 per 1000 residents.

Across South Lanarkshire, 62 of the 82 neighbourhoods recorded fewer than three new COVID-19 cases last week – down from 66 in the previous week.

Cambuslang Central (10), Carluke East (eight), Crosshouse and Lindsayfield (10) and Nerston and EK Landward area (nine) were the only other neighbourhoods to record at least nine new cases last week.

Calderwood Central (1.61), Cambuslang Central (2.64), Carluke East (1.96) and Crosshouse and Lindsayfield (1.86) were the only other neighbourhoods to record at least 1.5 cases for every 1000 residents.
