Breakdown of Coronavirus cases and deaths by Northern Ireland district

Northern Ireland has sadly lost another two people to Covid-19.

According to the latest figures from the Department of Health today, one of those people passed away in the last 24 hours, while the other died recently but their deaths have only just been reported.

The two people who sadly lost their lives were both aged 80 and over.

The report also indicates that the latest fatalities were recorded in Belfast and Ards and North Down.

Of the 449 Coronavirus-related deaths recorded in Northern Ireland, 230 were males, 218 were female and one death was recorded as not known.

As of midnight on May 12, 696 people were being treated for the virus as hospital inpatients - a rise of 22 patients since yesterday when 672 had been admitted.

24 patients with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 remain in ICU at present.

In care homes, there are currently 75 confirmed cases of the disease with a further 35 suspected cases reported.

35,201 people have now been tested for Coronavirus in the region, with an additional 1,057 being tested in the last 24 hours - 60 new positive cases were also confirmed.

An additional 601 samples have also been taken from the National Testing Centres here.

Belfast remains the area with the highest number of positive cases to date (1,258) whilst Fermanagh and Omagh remains the area with the fewest (78).

The 60 new cases here were recorded in: Antrim & Newtownabbey (3), Ards and North Down (2),Belfast (6), Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon (21), Causeway Coast & Glens (1), Derry and Strabane (4), Lisburn & Castlereagh (3),  Mid and East Antrim (2), Mid Ulster (11), Newry, Mourne and Down (1), Not Known (6).

As it stands, 4,253 people in Northern Ireland have tested positive for Coronavirus.
