A wheelchair-bound rights activist punched and broke the glass door of a lift at Asoke BTS station on Sunday night after discovering it was locked.
Local media reported that Manit Intapim, 50, was taken to Lumpini police station after shattering the glass pane on the entry door to the elevator for the elderly and people with disabilities at about 8.20pm.
Mr Manit also posted photos of the broken pane and his slightly injured fist on the Facebook account "Accessibility is Freedom," along with a message saying he would return to the same place at 4pm on Monday and would be available for media interviews.
"Fellow people with disabilities, or anyone else with a sense of humanity and a desire to contribute to matters of social interest, I would like to invite you to come," he wrote.
Mr Manit is an activist for the rights of people with disabilities.
According to Lumpini police, when Mr Manit arrived at the skytrain station, BTS staff asked him to register for elevator use, but he refused to do so.
Later he waited for the elevator for about five minutes, but no one came to open the door for him. Then he repeatedly punched the glass elevator door, police said.
