Brazilian gang frees kidnapped TV reporter

A TV reporter who was kidnapped by a gang in Brazil (see Two Brazilian journalists kidnapped) ) has been freed unharmed after two days. Guilherme Portanova of Globo TV in Sao Paulo was detained by a gang demanding improvements to the nation's prison system. They released his companion, a Globo technician, almost immediately after giving him a video tape, saying Portanova would be freed only after it was broadcast. Globo later aired the video in which masked men displayed weapons and criticised Brazil's overcrowded prisons. (Via Brazil News .Net - Newspapers on the Net)
