High-flying Yago Dora starred as the World Surf League's Brazilian storm hit Rottnest Island.
Dora was outstanding in his round of 16 heat against Australia's Connor O'Leary on Saturday, producing the performance of the day with some stunning aerial moves at Strickland Bay.
O'Leary could do little but sit back and watch as Dora recorded two nine-point rides on his way to a dominant two-wave total of 18.67 out of 20.
In reply, O'Leary could only post 12.83 as 25-year-old Dora moved into the quarter-finals in emphatic fashion.
"Those are the ones we dream about as a grom," Dora said.
"Just to go out there and be able to have fun while you're in the heat is amazing.
"To be able to show what you can do, kind of feel like a free surf, feels really fun."

Dora was one of four Brazilians to claim victory on Saturday as the South American nation dominated the last five heats of the round of 16.
Former world champion Italo Ferreira will take on Dora for a semi-final berth after eliminating Adriano de Souza in an all-Brazilian affair.
Dora was relishing the prospect of taking on his fellow aerial-loving goofy footer in the quarter-finals.
"Me and Italo have had some good battles already in the past and he's one of my favourites," Dora said.
"Those are the heats you dream about so I'm glad to be up against him."
Other Brazilians to get through to the last eight on Saturday were two-time world champion Gabriel Medina and Miguel Pupo.
Medina will face American Conner Coffin in the next round with Pupo taking on Gold Coast wildcard Liam O'Brien.
At least one Australian is guaranteed to reach the last four, with Julian Wilson facing Newcastle's Morgan Cibilic in the opening quarter-final match-up.
