Brazil star Everton Soares sends Man Utd transfer message after Copa America goal

Brazil star Everton Soares has sent Manchester United a clear transfer message - by claiming he would be a perfect fit.

The Gremio prospect came off the bench to bag his first international goal in the Copa America opener with a 3-0 win over Bolivia.

The 23-year-old goalscorer has been heavily linked with Manchester City in the past but has now hinted he wants a move to the Red side of the city.

His stunning strike demonstrated all of his pace, skill and finishing ability - and he reckons those characteristics would mean he is well-suited to a top European club such as the Red Devils.

"I'm a player that's always trying to get on top [of the opposition]," Everton told the Daily Mail after the game.

"Cutting in from the left with dribbles and good finishes.

"Clubs in Europe have this style of play too and maybe I can fit in at Manchester United and others."

Everton's impressive season for Gremio convinced Brazil's coaching staff to include him in their Copa America squad and he could now be rewarded for his goalscoring cameo with a start against Venezuela in place of David Neres.

City and United have reportedly been vying for his signature, with AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain amongst those also keen to bring him to Europe.

Figures between £27m and £36m have been quoted in the Brazilian press, although Gremio president Romildo Bolzan Junior has previously said they will insist on his huge £71m release clause being triggered.

It is nonetheless likely they could be convinced to sell for a much lower price in order to cash in and allow Everton to explore his next challenge either in the Premier League or elsewhere.
