Brazil legend Rivaldo makes Man City vs Manchester United derby prediction

Manchester is bracing itself for the first derby of the 2022/23 season as United travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on City.

As has become the case in recent years, Pep Guardiola's team are clear favourites for the win. The Blues have yet to taste defeat in the Premier League and sit second in the table, four points behind Arsenal who beat Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Saturday.

Meanwhile in the red half of Manchester, Erik ten Hag has managed to turn the tide at Old Trafford. Two defeats in his opening two matches looked to have put United on the ropes, before four straight victories in the league since.

This u turn in form, however, won't be enough for United to win the derby, according to Brazilian legend Rivaldo.

Speaking to Betfair via the Daily Star, the 50-year-old said: "Manchester City will host Manchester United this Sunday in a derby that has seen the dominant side change in recent years, with Pep Guardiola's side again coming into this one as the clear favourites. The Citizens are much more in tune with their style of play while the Red Devils - with new manager Erik ten Hag - are still looking for their best and most effective system.

"I see a Manchester City win here with the in-form Erling Haaland giving the visitors' defence a lot of headaches." It may well be a safe bet to assume that Haaland will provide difficulties for United this afternoon.

The Norwegian striker has already scored 14 goals in just 10 appearances for the Blues and he looks to be well on course to smashing the goalscoring record set by Mohamed Salah in the Premier League.
