Brazil coach pleased with Gabriel Jesus change ahead of Copa America

Brazil coach Tite has been pleased with what he has seen from Gabriel Jesus ahead of the Copa America, which starts this week.

Tite gave the Manchester City striker his big chance as the No.9 in the national team, but after a superb start he struggled at the World Cup last year where he managed no goals and one assist in five games.

The youngster came in for criticism for his performances, which he later admitted had 'scarred' him. He also found opportunities at the Etihad more limited with Sergio Aguero often immovable from Pep Guardiola's starting lineup .

However, after being starting the FA Cup final and scoring two goals to round off City's season Jesus has taken his form to the national team; in his first Brazil starts since last year's World Cup, he has scored one against Qatar and two against Honduras in the past week.

That gives Tite a decision to make over who to start between Jesus and Roberto Firmino for their opener with Bolivia, but it is a good dilemma for the coach to have.

"I am very happy with the growth of Gabriel - his comeback, his confidence," he said . "His precision as a finisher is more accurate, he is smiling, his mood is better. He's only 21 years old.

"He has been competing hard as an athlete to be a starter in all the matches he has played, and put in some great performances."
