Brazil boss Tite sends Marcelo Bielsa public message after Raphinha's barnstorming full debut

Brazil head coach Tite has hailed the impact of Marcelo Bielsa after Raphinha scored twice on his full international debut.

The Leeds United winger netted a goal in each half as the Seleção defeated Uruguay 4-1 to earn their 10th victory in 11 matches on their quest for World Cup qualification.

Raphinha has gone from strength to strength under Bielsa since his arrival at Leeds and Tite has expressed his gratitude to the Argentine for the work he has done with the 24-year-old.

He said: "I publicly thank Bielsa for accompanying and working with Raphinha and all the coaching staff that brought him closer to the national team.

“I spoke personally with Bielsa, and I thank him for that support with him.”

Raphinha was initially set to represent Brazil during the September international break but was forced to wait until this month due to issues over quarantine rules.

But his first involvement for the Seleção has been worth the wait given the strong impact he has made during all three matches.

On his first cap he registered two assists from the bench to help Brazil recover from a 1-0 half time deficit against Venezuela to earn a 3-1 victory, before he stood out again in his 30-minute cameo in the 0-0 draw with Colombia.

And after his performance in the early hours of this morning, excitement surrounding the Leeds man is understandably high, but Tite is keen to ensure that expectations are managed sensibly.

He said: "We continue calmly. It's a process. We have the observation of a great performance.

"But after a while, we're left thinking it's the peak of the mountain [for Raphinha].

"It's going to fluctuate, because it's normal, because he's a kid, because a whole atmosphere was generated. He played a great game, but we have to have common sense and serenity at the time of evaluations.

“You have to play a lot at your club. The competition increases, the batten [of pressure] increases, the level increases and all of the athletes compete to be in the national team."
