Brazil boss Tite hits out at 'evil lies' over Gabriel Jesus claim amid Arsenal injury return date

Brazil national team boss Tite has hit out at reports surrounding Gabriel Jesus' injury, claiming that some are spreading "evil lies" after his scan. The Arsenal star picked up a knee concern just after the hour mark in the Selecao's final group stage game against Cameroon on Friday night.

Early reports suggested that the 25-year-old will miss the rest of the World Cup, with a timeframe of three-to-four weeks set out for his return. However, recent reports from Brazil have claimed that it could be far worse than first feared, with a recovery time of three months.

That could mean the former Manchester City man won't return until the latter stages of the campaign, representing a huge blow to the Gunners. "He is used to winning and he knows that winning is the only way to do it," Mikel Arteta said on his striker when he joined in the summer. "I think he will set different standards at the club.”

The Brazilian has certainly done that in his time at the club, with the Gunners now sweating over his fitness and results of the full scan once they receive them. However, recent reports suggested that the striker had felt pain in his knee before the game, but was selected to start anyway.

This was something that annoyed Tite, who wanted to set the record straight in his press conference: "I don't like hearing lies out there, evil lies. At no time do we play for victory at the risk of a player's peril.

"The liar who's out there - because that's the name isn't it, the haters, right? Go do something else and stop giving fake news.

"Arsenal has a great medical department. We have a great medical department. We have a personal responsibility. We have personal ethics. It would never happen like this.”
