Brazen would-be thieves caught red-handed trying to steal 10ft plant from Pollokshaws Community Hub

A group of brazen would-be thieves were caught red handed attempting to steal a 10ft tall plant from outside a Pollokshaws Community Hub and Garden in broad daylight.

The culprits tried to take advantage of the current lockdown measures, arriving in a white van and attempting to make off with the cordyline palms from the Hub - which is ran by a charity organisation used predominantly by vulnerable groups.

However, an eagle-eyed neighbour spotted them in the act trying to rip the plants out of the ground and alerted the police, meaning the group left empty-handed.

Police have confirmed that enquiries are underway into the incident, which occurred on Saturday April 25 around 12 noon.

"The incident happened at around 12.05pm on Saturday, 25 April 2020. Anyone who was in the area and saw anything which might help in this investigation is asked to call police on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 1498 of 25 April, 2020."
