Brazen thieves caught stealing motorbike from Scots teen on CCTV in late-night raid

Thieves were caught red-handed stealing a motorbike from a furious Scots teen on CCTV in a late-night raid.

Ian Gardiner, from Midlothian, was left gutted when he woke to find his bright orange motorbike had been stolen while he slept.

The KTM RC125, with the number plate GP19 HGJ, was last seen on Mansfield Rd, in Newtongrange, Dalkeith, at around 11:30pm on Friday, April 22, at 11:30pm.

But in the morning it had vanished and the 18-year-old quickly checked his CCTV, reports Edinburgh Live.

Ian said: "I noticed the bike was gone at 6:30am on Saturday morning. I have reviewed CCTV, and it shows three boys in black stealing the bike at 1:10am from Mansfield Road.

"I have CCTV footage at different angles of three boys rolling the bike out the front of my house and going into a street opposite my house."

"I felt annoyed and enraged, just anger for the people who stole it. I want the three boys to know there are consequences for their actions."

Ian buys and sells motorbikes as a hobby but says the one that was stolen was his favourite.

He hopes to track down the thieves with information from the local community will help the police to find the people responsible.

And it's not the first time he has been stolen from.

Ian said: "I've previously had motorbikes stolen and knew who the people responsible were.

"I know the police can't do anything without robust evidence to show it was them even though you know they took it."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers received a report of the theft of a motorbike from Mansfield Road in Dalkeith around 12.55pm on Sunday, 24 April 2022, which happened between 11pm on Friday, 22 April, and 8am on Saturday, 23 April. Enquiries are ongoing."
