A Newcastle retail worker was robbed in broad daylight on Sunday, when a man crept into the store and stole her bag, containing her mobile phone, from a cupboard.
Management of Waldon's Flower Shop at Westfield Kotara - just outside Coles - has reported the theft to police and posted CCTV footage of the brazen incident on social media in the hope that the culprit will be caught.
The vision shows an employee helping a customer outside the retail space while a man dressed in long sleeves and a white cap creeps into the staff area and pulls the bag from a cupboard about 1.30pm.
Store owner Kylie Waldon said the person her staff member was helping during the robbery was not linked to the incident - she believed the theft was opportunistic.
"You're pretty confident when you crawl in," she said.
"I reckon they've been watching the girls from above."
