A brazen thief who stole a Christmas gift from the doorstep of a Midlothian home has been captured on film.
Shocking video footage shows the hooded robber casually walk up to the front door of the Lasswade home before snatching the present from the residential property's entrance.
The criminal was caught by a security camera on the house and now the fuming family members are hoping to identify the culprit.
Gary McCormack said the theft had happened at his mum's house and trainers she had bought him for Christmas had been nicked.
The 30-year-old welder told the Daily Record: "He is a total scumbag.
"My mum had got me some trainers for Christmas and they were waiting in a box at the door.
"As you can see in the video he just seemed to wait until the coast was clear and walked up and took them.
"For me the trainers are pretty irrelevant- I can buy new trainers if I need.
"What is upsetting is that it could have been a Christmas present for my three month old daughter Mia or my stepdaughter.
"It's not about the trainers- it is about a guy going round Bonnyrigg stealing Christmas presents from people's doorsteps.
"We want him named and shamed. He could be doing this again to other folk."
Gary's partner Steph posted on social media: "Does anyone know who this disgusting person is!
"Went up to my partners mum and dads house and stole a Christmas present that was left at the front door by Hermes.
"Do you feel it’s the perfect time of the year to go around stealing from peoples property?
"Absolute disgusting behaviour!"
