Bray Wanderers appoint Ian Ryan as new head coach

Ian Ryan has been confirmed as Bray Wanderers’ new head coach.

The former Wexford boss has agreed a two-year deal at the Carlisle Grounds but Pat Devlin will remain as Head of Football.

Devlin was in charge of the first team this season, along with coaches Eddie Gormley, Collie O’Neill, Graham O’Hanlon and Paul Heffernan.

But the Seagulls had a hugely disappointing campaign, winning just six of their 32 league games and finishing third bottom of the First Division.

Ryan, who was linked with the Bohemians job before Declan Devine's appointment, will be tasked with lifting their fortunes.

A Bray Wanderers statement read: “Ian will have responsibility for the first team and liaise with all existing football structures within the club.

“Ian is fully aligned with the club’s ambition to build a sustainable and successful club based on a thriving academy and a modern stadium.

“During this building process we recognise first team success as an important contributing factor to our longer term plans.

“We will provide Ian with all necessary support to deliver success in 2023 and beyond.”
