Bray gardai and emergency services rush to scene after man enters water at River Dargle

A massive emergency response was called in Bray, Co Wicklow yesterday evening when a man needed rescuing from a local river.

Gardai, the Wicklow fire service and paramedics attended the scene along the Dargle river at the People's Park in the greater Dublin town.

Many locals reported a heavy emergency service response in the area just after 6pm when a person "jumped" into the river which runs alongside the popular park.

Gardai confirmed to Dublin Live that the man who entered the water was recovered and taken to hospital.

The Wicklow fire service said: "Bray Fire Crew applied a wide range of skills to effect a rescue from the Dargle river at the People’s Park this evening."

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "I confirm Gardaí in Bray attended an incident of a man in the river this evening at approximately 6.20p.m.

"He was recovered from the water and taken to the local hospital."
