Brawl breaks out in the street before man rushed to hospital after being tended to by horrified passers-by

A man was taken to hospital following a brawl in the street in Stockport.

Police were called to Stockport Road, Cheadle, just after 9.30pm last night (Friday).

Witnesses said a fight broke out before a man was seen lying in the road.

Passers-by tended to the man as paramedics and police were called.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police said the man, who is in his 30s, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Another man suffered minor injuries.

That man was arrested, before being de-arrested a short time later, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.

"Police were called around 9.35pm on Saturday, January 29, to a report of a fight on Stockport Road, Cheadle," a force statement read.

"Emergency services attended and a man in his 30s was treated for injuries at the scene before being taken to hospital.

"His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"A man was arrested at the scene, but following enquiries was later de-arrested. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

Police are appealing for anyone with information - or video footage - to contact them on 101, quoting incident 2925 of January 28.
