Brawl breaks out after 15yo drowns at Glenelg beach

A 31-year-old man has been charged after a brawl broke out at Glenelg beach following the drowning of a 15-year-old boy.

The Goodwood boy, of African heritage, was pulled from the water after he got into trouble under the jetty late on Monday afternoon.

Paramedics responded and gave him CPR, but he died at the scene.

Shortly afterwards, a brawl broke out at the beach, and was captured on video before being posted on social media.

In the video, a man can be heard yelling racist taunts to a group of African teenagers, which causes them to react.

Police said a 31-year-old man from West Croydon was arrested at Glenelg on Monday for disorderly behaviour and carry offensive weapon after a knife was found in his possession.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on February 6.

Police said inquiries were continuing and asked anyone who witnessed the incident or captured any vision to contact Crime Stoppers.
