Braves mascot hilariously pranks Manny Machado into ‘signing away’ his contract

The San Diego Padres made a major splash in free agency when they signed Manny Machado to a 10-year, $300 million contract. That kind of money should have Machado set financially for life.

It’s just too bad that the Braves mascot, Blooper, took it all. OK, not really. But Blooper’s prank was excellent work.

Ahead of the Braves’ Wednesday game against the Padres at SunTrust Park, Blooper approached Machado with a posterboard full of autographs. He pointed at a designated spot for Machado to sign — a conspicuously cut-out box at the bottom-right corner.

After Machado signed, Blooper revealed that it was a $300 million check made out to … Blooper.

Manny, noooo.

Fortunately for Machado, I don’t think he has to worry about a mascot trying to cash an oversized novelty check. But I can’t get over Machado’s reaction.

This was some A-plus mascot shenanigans.
