Brave Scots mum announces own death in online post after cancer mistaken for 'trapped nerve'

A Scots mum who bravely battled a stem cell transplant has announced her own death with a moving Facebook post. Judith Green, from West Lothian, was diagnosed with myeloma - a form of blood cancer which normally affects men over the age of 60 - in April 2019.

The mum-of-two had been suffering from a 'sciatica' pain on various occasions over the last 10 years but medics dismissed it as being a trapped nerve, which would sort itself out. Judith and husband Steven were floored when she was eventually given her cancer diagnosis but she vowed to continue fighting so she could ‘meet her future grandchildren’.

The 44-year-old underwent a stem cell transplant with her own cells the following year but was heartbroken when medics revealed the cancer had returned just seven months later. Despite her gruelling health battle, Judith, a former waitress, campaigned tirelessly to recruit new bone marrow donors in a bid to help others receive a transplant.

But she sadly lost her fight for life at the end of November and announced her passing with a pre-planned Facebook post on her business page, Getting Crafty. She wrote: "Hi all, Judith here. Well it was me who wrote this but it will be my brother Dale posting on my behalf.

"So, this is it. My time is over. I am no longer alive. I just wanted to say 'thank you' to every single one of you. Thank you for supporting my Getting Crafty page over the last eight years. Thank you for allowing me to create gifts for you and your loved ones.

"Thank you for the kindness you gave when my hubby nearly died. Thank you for supporting my cancer Journey. Thank you for everything! All my love Judith xXx."

Dozens of heartfelt tributes have poured in for the doting mum, who will be laid to rest on Monday, December 5.

One friend said: "May you rest in peace Judith. What an incredible lady and mummy who fought so blooming hard. Sending my sincere condolences to your hubby, children and the rest of your family and friends. Rest in peace now your pain has ended."

Another wrote: "So sad to read this. We used to have such a laugh at work. You were such a beautiful person Judith, hope the next place is better to you. RIP, love and prayers to your family."

A third commented: "You were an inspiration to all. I will never forget the first day we met and the support you gave me in my very first job and your caring, understanding and loving personality. My thoughts are with your boys and family."

Another added: "I am so so sorry to hear this. Judith, you were an amazingly kind human and I will always remember that amazing smile. Thinking of you all at this sad time."
