Brave Neil Flynn praised as he stars for Kildare just days after losing father

Kildare star Neil Flynn has been hailed for a courageous performance for his county tonight following his father's passing earlier this week.

Lilywhites ace Flynn's father Fergal was laid to rest yesterday and this evening Neil came off the bench to kick three points, which proved to be crucial as Kildare saw off Offaly by 0-20 to 0-16 at O'Moore Park.

Flynn drew praise on social media, with one fan on Twitter commenting: "Have endless amounts of respect for Neil Flynn and the courage he showed to come out and play for @KildareGAA today the day after his father died and to score two points that were crucial to Kildares win."

Another said: "Hats off to @KildareGAA player Neil Flynn, buried his father this week and came on and kicked 3 points today, can’t of been easy. Sympathies to him, his family and club! #Respect"

And another Kildare fan commented: "Big improvement needed against Meath, but that was something else from Neil Flynn. Tough couple of days and was still willing to fight for the cause and made a huge difference with his accuracy #CillDaraAbú"

"Fair play to Neil Flynn, couple of great scores when introduced in what I can only imagine was a very tough week. Says a lot about the man. Respect," said another fan on social media.

Meath await Kildare in the Leinster semi-final after their convincing win over Wicklow in which debutant Jordan Morris notched an incredible 3-4.

The winners of that clash will play either Dublin or Laois in the provincial, following respective wins over Westmeath and Longford.
