Brave Man City fan who battled brain tumour granted his wish to meet his hero Sergio Aguero

A brave young Manchester City fan who battled a life-threatening brain tumour was granted his wish to meet his hero Sergio Aguero - and walked out with him at game.

Ryan Partridge was diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago and underwent a series of gruelling treatments.

When 12-year-old Ryan was diagnosed, his Uncle Adam promised him that as soon as he was well enough, they would go and watch their first City game together.

However it was over 18 months until Ryan, who is now in remission, was well enough to attend a game.

He told his uncle it was a dream to meet Blues legend Aguero.

And after hearing Ryan’s inspirational story, City pulled out all the stops to give him a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

He was chosen as one of the mascots for the game against Watford at the Etihad earlier this month.

Accompanied by his parents and older brother, Ryan, from Walsall in the black country, was given a behind-the-scenes tour of the Etihad Stadium, a sneak peek at the first-team dressing room, players warm-up facilities and press areas before anyone else had arrived.

As kick off approached he got the moment he had been waiting for, as he met his footballing hero and City’s all-time leading goal scorer, Sergio Aguero with the Argentinian holding his hand as they walked out onto the pitch.

He said afterwards: "I am never washing my hand."

After leading out the team, Ryan then played a few passes on the pitch before having his photo taken with club captain, Vincent Kompany.

Him and his family then got VIP tickets to watch City’s 3-1 triumph over the Hornets in the Premier League.

Ryan’s mum, Lindsey, said afterwards; “It was great to see Ryan smiling, he was in awe when he got to meet all the players and shake all of their hands – as they came off the coach, and also as he lead them through the tunnel at the start of the match."

This experience was the result of City's long-standing partnership with the charity Make-A-Wish UK, which sees seriously ill children granted one-off experiences to try and put a smile back on their face.
