Brave Glasgow boy with rare cancer gets surprise hospital window visit from Santa

Despite Christmas Eve being the busiest day of the year for Santa, he even made some time to do a special drive through Glasgow streets to say hello to all the children from a safe distance.

Wee Tait Events & Generation Events teamed up to Bring Santa on a tour through the city last night, passing all the children in hospital and seeing one very special little boy.

Little Caleb Stirrat, 4, has spent over a year fighting a rare atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumour, undergoing gruelling chemotherapy and even travelling to Florida for proton beam therapy last year.

Just before Christmas parents Karen, 35, and partner Andrew, 43, were given hope when Caleb's scans came back clear.

Less than a month later his family were left devastated after the results of a MRI scan in May revealed the cancer had returned more aggressive than before. Caleb has been given between four months to just over one year to live.

A charity page has since been set up in a bid to raise cash for the Clydebank family so they can enjoy the remaining time left together to the fullest.

And although Caleb's family thought that he would be spending Christmas in hospital, luckily he will be able to go home today - but not before he was able to see Santa in his sleigh passing the hospital.

Caleb's mum Karen told Glasgow Live: "With everything going on, Caleb missed out on meeting Santa and his Christmas party.

"He was so excited to see Santa in his sleigh last night and it's really set him up for coming home. We are so happy to be under the same roof this Christmas."

At approximately 6pm, The Grinch, Elves and other Christmas characters drove through Glasgow in their charity sleigh drive, raising a fabulous £1213.64 for Cash for Kids.

Starting on Summerston Road and finishing at Kinnell Avenue, the sleigh delighted hundreds of Glasgow children from the safety of their homes.

And for Caleb, it kicked off the party season.
