Police have hailed a teenager’s bravery after suffered minor injuries fending off a bag snatcher in woods in Widnes.
Detectives said a would-be mugger confronted his 16-year-victim when she was sitting with a friend in woods near Bowers Brook close to Bell View on Derby Road. at around 4.15pm on Wednesday.
The unknown crook approached and grabbed her handbag but the girl clung on.

Cheshire Police said the robber pushed her and then made to flee the scene towards Minton Way with the bag, but threw it back to the teenager when he spotted her following him.
Police have hailed the girl’s bravery in protecting her property.
The robber was described as white, in his late teens to early 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall, and slim with broad shoulders and blond hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded jacket.
Officers are keen for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.
Detective Constable Nicola Dolan said: "This incident left the victim with minor injuries as she bravely fought to keep her belongings.
"However the consequences of this incident could have been a lot worse.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Bowers Brook area around the time of the incident and may have seen something that didn't look quite right.
"The same goes to anyone who may have captured CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the offender."
