Brave gardai tackled a knife-wielding man following a robbery this evening.
Shortly after 6pm today, a man armed with a knife entered a shop in Castletymon Shopping Centre in Tallaght, Dublin and threatened staff.
He then left on foot with a sum of money.
Gardai from the Tallaght district drugs unit were patrolling the area nearby and tackled the man to the ground.
The man threatened gardai with his knife but was subdued.
The cash stolen was also recovered.
A man in his early 40s was arrested and has been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 for questioning at Tallaght Garda Station.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
A Garda spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing."
