This is Bear, a brave garda dog who hunted down two armed robbery suspects in north Dublin.

The fearless four-year-old pooch sniffed out the two suspects as well as uncovered vital evidence related to the crime during the course of his search.

He was responding to an armed robbery at a service station in Donabate.

Bear, who works as a general purpose garda dog, is a Belgian Malinois Cross.

Gardai said: “Garda Dog Bear, aged 4, is a Belgian Malinois Cross and works as a general purpose garda dog.

“He recently responded to an armed robbery at a service station in Donabate with his handlers from the garda dog unit.

“Bear conducted a search of the area and successfully recovered two suspected offenders and vital evidence related to the crime.

“Bear was assisted by Coolock District Gardaí, the Garda Air Support Unit and the Armed Support Unit.

“Well done to Garda Dog Bear, the Garda Handlers and all units involved in the operation.”

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live investigations into the incident are ongoing.
