Brave five-year-old battling leukaemia fulfills dream of spotting Loch Ness monster

A brave five-year-old boy who is battling leukaemia fulfilled his dream yesterday when he spotted Nessie.

Zachary was thrilled to spot the monster out on Loch Ness with mum Katie and dad Mark on a trip organised by Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity.

The youngster, from Bracknell in Berkshire, is obsessed with all things Scottish and has spent many months in hospital. Rays of Sunshine enlisted the help of Loch Ness Cruises to organise a Nessie hunt for Zachary.

Armed with binoculars, compass, magnifying glass and a hand-held torch, Zachary spotted him after an hour. He said: “I spotted Nessie! She was green and scaly, a bit like a dinosaur, but a friendly monster.”

Mum Katie said:”To be able to come away as a family and create such precious memories with Zachary after so long in hospital has been incredible.

“Seeing him back to his old self, so excited and smiling, has been fantastic.”

Jane Sharpe, head of Rays of Sunshine, said: “I am so thrilled we were able to make Zachary’s wish come true.”
