Brave firefighters rescue child and four adults from top floor apartment in Dublin

Five people, including one child, who became trapped in an apartment fire were rescued on Sunday evening.

Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene of a top floor residence on Gardiner Place in the city centre at around 5pm.

According to a statement released last night, firefighters had to use a turntable ladder to free the victims.

After quick action, they managed to successfully bring all of the occupants to safety outside of the residence.

Six people were then treated on location by paramedics - none of whom had to be brought to the hospital for further evaluation.

The road was closed for a period of time to allow for investigators to assess the scene and cause of the fire, but it’s understood the road has since reopened.

In a post on Twitter on Sunday night, fire brigade officials confirmed: “Four adults and a child were rescued from a top floor apartment by firefighters using a turntable ladder.

“Six people were treated on scene by Paramedics, however, all declined transport to the hospital.

“The scene is now with Gardai for investigation which is standard procedure.”
