An eight year old girl has been hailed as a hero after she saved a man having an epileptic fit.
Little Emily MacGregor was on her way to the shop when she saw a man lying in the road yesterday evening (Tuesday August 5).
Luckily Emily, who has autism and ADHD, recognised the signs of an epileptic seizure as her mum Laura also has the condition.
Proud mum Laura, 31, told Edinburgh Live her daughter been very brave. “She was brilliant,” she said.
“She was going to the shop but she came back just a couple of minutes later and she said ‘mummy there’s a man round the corner and he’s lying like you do mummy, he’s shaking’.”

Laura and her partner Steven ran outside and found the man who was in the middle of an epileptic seizure, lying on the ground on Moncrieff Way, Livingston.
“He was having a fit. So we phoned an ambulance,” Laura explained.
Laura tried to keep the man awake, put a hoodie under his head and tried to keep the rain off him as he lay on the ground.
“He managed to stand up just as the paramedics arrived,” she said.
“He was soaking wet, he’d fell back and bust his head, his head was burst open.”
But despite being a bit sore, Laura the man was ok and even got in touch to thank Emily for raising the alarm.
“She’s done an amazing job, an absolutely amazing job,” said Laura.
“She didn’t run away from him, she wasn’t scared – she told me that three cars drove past him.
“When I was with him people walked past us, drove past us.”
Laura was diagnosed with epilepsy several years ago and she said Emily and her other children had learned to recognise the signs.
“It’s ironic because she saved my life too, she witnessed my first seizure too,” she said.
“It turns out he knew my partner so he sent a message saying thanks to my wee girl."
“The police have thanked her and said she was a hero.”
Laura posted on social media about Emily's brave rescue and she was flooded with praise. Laura recorded a video of Emily thanking people for their support.
She added: “He was really lucky she was there, the amount of people that drove past is disgusting.”
“She's so clever and she was brave no tears held it together came in calm she saved him.”
