A brave north Dublin woman has told of her horror as she met an armed attacker staring in her window after smashing the glass to pieces in an attempted break-in.
The woman posted the warning on her Facebook urging locals in the Ballymun area to mind their back gardens and locking up to stop predators from gaining access.
She said she was alerted to the thief when she heard a smash, immediately thinking that someone was in her house.
Looking down onto the garden from the window upstairs, she spotted the lone attacker who she then confronted before he fled the scene.
Once downstairs, she noticed that her window had been smashed and shed broken into also but thankfully nothing was taken.
She warned locals: "I'm just putting this up to let everyone know as a warning to mind there back gardens and be careful what you leave out there.
"At six in the morning I woke up to loud banging and thought there was someone in my house.
"I turned the lights on all up stairs and the noise continued, I took a look out my upstairs window and there was a lad out my back trying to break into my house.
"As I called him he ran, he also broke into my shed out the back and although there was nothing taken, he did manage to take the door off of its hinges though."
"I just wanted to put this up as a warning to everyone so you know, because the shops are closed they are going for our homes."
