A dad has described the moment a knife-wielding gang tried to steal his car in front of screaming neighbours.
The 29-year-old, who does not want to be named, confronted them before they fled in a white van.
He was alerted after hearing neighbours scream between 10.30pm and 11pm on Tuesday (August 25).
He ran outside of his home in Sheldon, Birmingham to find two men had smashed into his Ford S Max, leaving shattered glass on the ground from the windows.
The dad-of-two told BirminghamLive : "I heard my name being shouted and I ran through my house and went through the front and there was a white van and two men stood at the driver’s door with both their heads peering inside the car.

“I ran straight at them and that scared them off a bit.
“They turned away and I pushed one off to the side.
“The other one jumped into the van and then jumped out of the van with a large knife in his hand and chased me back towards my house.”
The knifeman threatened the dad to stay away and also threatened the neighbours who locked themselves in their porch.

He added: “There was three of them. There was a lot of presence around so they jumped into the van and drove off. My neighbours all came out to see if I was OK.
“The police came quickly and did say they were in a chase with a white van.”
He admitted he is now worried for his family's safety in case they return.
“It’s a car at the end of the day," he continued. "If anything happened to my family, I would be very worried.”
West Midlands Police said enquiries are continuing and anyone with information should contact them quoting 20BE/203675W/20.
