Braun Strowman, Tyson Fury set up crossover fight on WWE SmackDown

WWE packed the Staples Center with wrestling legends and celebrities for the debut of SmackDown on Fox, and proceedings took an unexpected twist when one of the stars in the crowd jumped the barrier and set up a potential high-profile match we could very well see at WrestleMania XXXVI.

Current lineal heavyweight champion boxer Tyson Fury is the type of outspoken character that could be perfect for a guest WWE run, and he set up a feud with WWE behemoth Braun Strowman.

Strowman confronted Fury at ringside in the middle of his eight-man tag match, and taunted the champion by squaring up with him. Strowman was attacked from behind by Dolph Ziggler, but he quickly recovered and flung Ziggler into the barrier, where he collided with Fury.

After Strowman won the match, Fury hopped the barrier and was instantly met by a swarm of security.

Fury has stated publicly that he’d be interested in WWE, and the confrontation during such a high-profile show would indicate that a Strowman vs. Fury match is in the works. Survivor Series and Royal Rumble are likely out of the question, with Fury set to face Deontay Wilder in February – but he would have plenty of time to recover for an appearance at WrestleMania next April in Tampa.
