Brat's Tomos Parry to host special dinner with groundbreaking Chinese restaurant Hunan

Peng thing: the collab will be held at Brat in May - (Brat)

The star chef Tomos Parry will team up with one of London’s oldest and most revered Chinese restaurants next month for a one-off dinner.

Y.S Peng, chef-founder of Hunan in Pimlico, will join Parry at Brat for a collaboration on May 12, bringing a menu of classic Hunanese dishes to be cooked on Parry’s wood-fired grills.

Hunan has long held cult status in London, building a loyal following thanks to Peng’s famous “leave it to us” approach, now common in the capital but pioneering in the Eighties.

At Hunan, founded in 1982, diners are served a 12-18 course dining menu, each one tailored to personal tastes.

At Brat, which has held a Michelin star since 2018, Peng, now 80, will cook alongside Parry to serve scallion and wild garlic pancakes, char siu pork, gai lan with garlic and shallot oil, wood-fried rice, and mango soup.

Parry said: “Hunan is a stalwart in the London dining scene and I’ve had so many incredible meals there so to be able to collaborate with chef Peng is a real honour.

“The past couple of weeks we’ve been working alongside chef Peng have been so fascinating and rewarding and I’m excited to be able to welcome our guests to enjoy this incredibly unique menu.”

The set menu is priced at £120 per person. 4 Redchurch Street, E1 6JL, sevenrooms.com
