Brassic series 3 episodes, cast and where you've seen them before as comedy returns to Sky

Sky comedy Brassic returns to screens this week for series 3, with show bosses promising it will be "bigger and brasher than ever before".

The comedy drama follows the exploits of Vinnie (played by Joe Gilgun) and his group of scally mates in the fictional town of Hawley in Lancashire.

Series 3 begins with Vinnie freshly out of prison and jubilant to be reunited with his gang of mates - who are soon back to their usual tricks hatching outrageous get-rich-quick schemes, while there remains the simmering romantic tension with Erin (played by Michelle Keegan ).

And there will be eight episodes to enjoy this series - which will air on Sky Max on Wednesdays at 10pm - or you can binge-watch the entire series now on the Sky hub or on Now TV.

Here's more on the characters of Brassic and the actors who bring them so memorably to life.

Vinnie - Joe Gilgun

The wild world of Brassic was all created from the mind of the show's star Joe Gilgun. The drama is loosely based on his experiences growing up in Chorley in Lancashire and the mischief he got up to, as well as his struggles with mental health and diagnosis with Bipolar disorder.

Joe has had huge success in the acting world, memorably starring as Woody in award-winning film This is England and the resulting TV series. He is also known to soap fans as Eli Dingle in Emmerdale.

Speaking about the return of Brassic, he says he would love the hit comedy to "run for ten series" and would love to emulate the success of This is England director Shane Meadows.

He said: "I ’d like to be able to get to a point where, I mean, it’s a big ask at this stage in my career, but to be like Shane Meadows. I learnt from him to stick with what you know."

Erin - Michelle Keegan

Former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan resumes her role as Erin in Brassic series 3 and we can expect plenty more romantic tension between Erin and Vinnie.

Michelle has had a varied career since leaving Corrie in dramatic scenes when her character Tina McIntyre met a deadly end back in 2014.

She has won acclaim starring in series 2-4 of Our Girl on the BBC, as well as starring as England footballer Bobby Moore's wife Tina in the docudrama Tina and Bobby in 2017.

Tyler - Jude Riordan

Brassic series 3 stars Michelle Keegan as Erin (centre) and Jude Riordan as her son Tyler (Sky UK/Ben Blackall)

Talented young actor Jude Riordan will return as Tyler in Brassic series 3, fresh from that huge Best Newcomer win at the National TV Awards in September for his role on Coronation Street.

Jude, 10, combined filming on Brassic with his ongoing Corrie schedule, where he plays adorable Sam Blakeman, the son of Nick Tilsley and Natasha Blakemen on the soap.

Dylan - Damian Molony

Irish actor Damian Molony returns to Brassic series 3 as Vinnie's pal Dylan. We can expect simmering tensions though as Dylan is clearly still in love with Erin, as is Vinnie.

Away from Brassic, Damian is best known for playing Hal Yorke in the hit BBC drama Being Human as well as Jon in Channel 4's Game Face.

Tommo - Ryan Sampson

JJ - Parth Thakerar

Look out for a new romance for JJ in the new series with Sugar - but the character may also be about to get in hot water with the lads after he's found to be cheating with a rival criminal gang.

JJ is played by actor Parth Thakerar who has just been seen playing Jay Kohli in the major BBC hit thriller Vigil alongside Suranne Jones. He is also know for his roles in Brave New World and Grantchester.

Ash - Aaron Heffernan

(Sky UK/Ben Blackall)

We will get to explore more about Ash's traveller family in series 3 of Brassic as the character discovers who his real father is.

Away from the Sky comedy, actor Aaron Heffernan is known for his roles in War of the Worlds and Love/Hate and has also appeared in Alan Partridge This Time.

Cardi - Tom Hanson

Cardi is back in series 3 of Brassic, played by actor Tom Hanson.

Before Brassic, Tom had his breakthrough TV role playing Craig Meehan in ITV's gritty docudrama The Moorside about the disappearance of Shannon Matthews.

Sugar - Joanna Higson

We can expect Sugar to be involved in plenty of the action in Brassic series 3 - particularly as romance appears to blossom with JJ (Parth Thakerar).

Actress Joanna Higson resumes her role as Sugar, but away from Brassic, TV fans will remember her as Maxine Donnelly in Shameless and appearances in BBC soap Doctors.

Dr Chris Cox - Dominic West

Actor Dominic West appears in Brassic (PA)

Among the hilarious cameos in Brassic, is the role of Dr Chris Cox, played by Hollywood star Dominic West.

He returns in series 3, with a memorable moment in the opening episode with a talking female bodypart.

Dominic has had an extensive career in TV and film, perhaps best known for playing Jimmy McNulty in hit US drama The Wire, and Noah Solloway in The Affair.

He won a BAFTA for his portrayal of serial killer Fred West in ITV's docudrama Appropriate Adult.

Jim - Steve Evets

Actor Steve Evets reprises his role as crazy farmer Jim in Brassic for plenty more madcap exploits in Series 3.

Steve remains best known for his standout role in the film Looking for Eric, alongside Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.

He is also known for film roles in Pirates of the Caribbean and Robin Hood, and in TV dramas like Gentleman Jack, Vera and Girlfriends.
