Brandon Williams reacts to making full Manchester United debut

Brandon Williams has expressed his delight at making his full Manchester United debut on Thursday.

Left-back Williams made his first appearance for the club at senior level as a second half substitute last week in the Carabao Cup win over Rochdale, and he followed that up by playing the full 90 minutes in Alkmaar as United struggled to a 0-0 draw.

But the performance of Williams, 19, was one of the only highlights for United and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the latest academy graduate for his attitude.

"The performance and debut of Brandon, fantastic," the manager said.

"You can't see any nerves, he's so brave, the courage to take the ball and go forward. Great defending, very pleased, some big, big pluses today."

Williams took to Instagram after the game to reveal how it felt to play for United, while hinting at some involvement at Newcastle on Sunday.

He posted: "No better feeling than playing. Onto the next."

Diogo Dalot and David de Gea were among the players to congratulate Williams on his debut. Dalot posted: "Congrats on your first official start! Well done @branwilliams.53"

While De Gea posted a story with the message: "Well done" alongside a picture of the pair at full time.

Marcos Rojo added: "Top bro" to Williams, with Mason Greenwood commenting under Williams' post with the left-back's number 53 and a flame emoji.
