Manchester United star Brandon Williams is at the centre of a tug-of-war with agents.
The 19-year-old defender has been a revelation for United since bursting onto the scene at the start of the season as a substitute in the EFL Cup against Rochdale at Old Trafford.
Before football was shut down, Manchester-born Williams had made 26 appearances across all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who believes the fearless youngster is a major talent.
He is joined in that assessment by Gareth Southgate, with the England boss keeping close tabs on the development of the left-back who is putting pressure on established defender Luke Shaw for club and country.
Williams’ rapid development, however, has sparked a battle off the pitch with rival agents vying to tie him down to a new deal.
It is believed the global Wasserman group and agent Rob Segal from YM&U are locked in a battle to manage the next stage of the defender’s career on and off the pitch.
Williams is tipped for a big career at United with the youngster already proving he’s capable of holding down a first-team place at Old Trafford.
His pace, energy and willingness to attack has made him an instant favourite with fans – and forced club bosses to fast-track contract talks over a new contract.
It is believed on his present deal Williams earns around £3,600-a-week but that’s likely to be ripped up and replaced with a new agreement putting the youngster on £20,000-a-week.
That has increased the urgency for Williams to sort out his new advisors, with several other high-profile agents also ready to offer deals.
