Brandon Soppy a Celtic transfer target but club face stiff competition for £7m-rated rising star

Celtic are reportedly weighing up a move for Rennes rising star Brandon Soppy.

Eurosport claim that Neil Lennon has targeted the French youngster who is rated at £7million.

But the Hoops face stiff competiton from the likes of RB Leipzig and Nice, with the German side looking to 'accelerate' a deal for Soppy.

The 18-year-old, who stars at right-back, has not made his senior debut for Rennes, but has impressed in the UEFA Youth League this season.

The coronavirus pandemic means there is no football for the foreseebale future, but it seems like Celtic are still looking ahead to bring in reinforcements ahead of next season.

Lennon signed Jeremie Frimpong, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer at the right-back position at the start of the season, but with Bauer's loan deal set to expire, he could be looking for his replacement in Soppy.

Frimpong and Elhamed have enjoyed good debut campaigns with the club but have both been hampered by injuries.
