Brandon Scherff proves his worth with top PFF grade against Vikings

Before the Redskins game against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night, right guard Brandon Scherff was reported as saying that he desires to play in Washington for the rest of his career, has his rookie contract is set to expire after this season.

During the game, he proved why he’s deserving of getting paid by the Redskins, and he ranked as the highest-graded Pro Football Focus player on the team after a 19-9 loss to the Vikings.

With a 92.3 grade, Scherff was by far the highest-ranked player on the Redskins, beating out running back Adrian Peterson by almost 20 points. When focusing on lineman, PFF focuses on the ability to protect the quarterback in a pass rush, as well as isolating the role of a blocker on each run play.

Scherff has had a nice career in Washington after being selected with the No. 5 overall pick in 2015. Ahead of the 2019 season, he was ranked as the fourth-best offensive guard in the NFL, and his presence on the offensive line has been a big help to the Redskins sometimes-porous front five.
