Brandon Pierrick set for full Crystal Palace debut against Derby as Roy Hodgson's injury crisis worsens

Crystal Palace youngster Brandon Pierrick is set for to make his full Eagles debut this weekend after impressing as a late substitute against Norwich.

The 18-year-old academy graduate has been included in Premier League squads of late as manager Roy Hodgson battles an ever-worsening injury list, and was thrown on with less than 10 minutes left at Carrow Road before playing a key role in Connor Wickham's leveller.

Palace's list of injured first-team regulars was extended to seven on New Year's Day as defender Mamadou Sakho, only recently back from suspension, went off at half-time with a hamstring issue and Hodgson is not confident of having any of them back against Derby in the FA Cup.

"There were very few players out there who you could say were 100 per cent fit," Hodgson said of the Norwich game.

"It is going to be a major problem for me on Sunday because the medical department are doing a very good job in patching these lads up and getting them out there.

"But I know that on Sunday they're going to be telling me that 'this one, that one and this one' shouldn't play.

"We're going to be struggling to put out what is likely to be a competitive team."

There could also be a chance for defender Sam Woods, whose only previous Palace start came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Colchester earlier this season.
