Brandon Ingram on Lonzo Ball’s growth: ‘He’s been working every day’

Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram were once seen as a duo that could lead the Lakers into a new era. The pair of No. 2 picks did end up being part of a new era, though it didn’t come in California.

Both Ingram and Ball have had breakout seasons of different calibers with the New Orleans Pelicans this season. The former earned an All-Star appearance while the latter has had a career year that recently drew high praise from head coach Alvin Gentry.

Ball has spoken multiple times about Ingram’s progress this season and the latter returned the favor during his media availability on Friday.

“It’s been continuous growth since the beginning of the season, from him being healthy to him feeling comfortable on the basketball floor, him figuring out what he needs to do on the basketball floor. I think the process has been very good and he’s been working every single day to make the best out of it. Everything is coming along the way he wants it to go.”

Given that both players have reportedly expressed a desire to remain in New Orleans, this season could be the start of something special. Individually, the pair have found a franchise and environment where they can flourish.

As a team, the Pelicans appear the have transitioned rather seamlessly from the Anthony Davis era into a new era. While Zion Williamson certainly is the star of the team, Ingram and Ball both figure to be high-profile supporting cast members.
