Brandon Hanlan out injured for Wigan Athletic game leaving Bristol Rovers with no fit strikers

Brandon Hanlan will miss Bristol Rovers' game at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday through injury, Bristol Live understands.

Hanlan has an ankle issue, leaving Paul Tisdale with no fit recognised strikers for the League One game at the DW Stadium.

The extent of the 23-year-old's injury is unknown, nor is the amount of action he could miss. The number nine has five goals to his name this season in all competitions.

James Daly is also ruled out due to a concussion and Jonah Ayunga remains on the sidelines having missed close to two months of action with a hamstring complaint.

Wingers Sam Nicholson, Jayden Mitchell-Lawson and Zain Walker are makeshift options the Gas boss could deploy up front, with Nicholson paired up top with Hanlan for the defeat at Swindon Town on Saturday.

Rovers have struggled for goals so far this season, scoring just 11 in 12 games and Hanlan's absence sees their primary goal threat taken away.

Under-23s striking options Kieran Phillips, Harry Warwick and Ollie Hulbert are out on loan spells.

Shortly before kick off, Tisdale told BBC Radio Bristol: "Brandon’s sore today. We don’t think he’s going to be out for too long.

"That’s a loss for us. I’ve only been here for a couple of days but I can see he’s an important member of our team.

"That’s a shame. With James and Jonah being injured also it provides me with a bit of a conundrum, but we’ll get round that."
