Branding agency MadeBrave reports revenue up 20% as it signs up Nestle and Kandou

Creative agency MadeBrave has reported annual revenue rose by a fifth last year as it notched a deal with Nestle.

The Glasgow-based branding specialist also revealed it had introduced a 'work from anywhere' policy for staff after they enjoyed the benefits of staying home during lockdown.

The firm announced revenue of £3.4 million for the year to the year ending 30 April 2020, up from £2.8 million.

That came after the first full year of having Campfire on board, MadeBrave having acquired the Edinburgh content production agency in July 2018.

MadeBrave recently added Swiss-based food giant Nestle and semiconductor maker Kandou to a client list that already included Tennent's owner C&C, whisky group Edrington and transport firm First Group.

CEO Andrew Dobbie, who founded the firm in 2012, said Madebrave was targeting more international business and further acquisitions over the next year.

The business was early to recognise the threat of coronavirus and came up with the plan of splitting into three teams early in March, but quickly switched to full-scale remote working.

Dobbie said: “We’re allowing our team to work from anywhere indefinitely as long as they’re in a role and situation to do so. Before the pandemic hit, we had invested heavily in a new 6,600 sq ft creative studio space, which we are keeping but we now see this physical space becoming a destination for the brand but not a mandatory place our people have to work from.

“Another exciting aspect is we now have the ability to hire the best talent from across the globe, not just from one geographic location. This model, which we think will eventually be a blended approach of office work and working from home, will improve productivity, enhance the work-life balance for our team, have a positive impact on the environment, and help us increase the diversity of the business.

"For me, flexible working is here, right now, and it’s better for everyone. Just as Twitter has shown, if there’s ever a time to make the switch it’s now."

Campfire was recently integrated under the MadeBrave brand, having previously operated under its own name. Campfire founder Lewis Phillips stepped down as a director in May and has left to set up a new business, and Dobbie said: "We wish Lewis every success with his next venture."

Dobbie added: “We’re now working with clients in every corner of the globe and we’re looking forward to the next stage of MadeBrave’s evolution. We are now able to give clients an end-to-end experience with an expert team of brand, business and marketing strategists, combined with cutting edge 3D, motion, film, design, digital and tech.”
