Brandin Cooks, Johnny Hekker helping with coronavirus relief

The coronavirus has brought the world to a screeching halt, locking down more than a billion people around the globe. Athletes and celebrities have been helping those in need during this trying time by donating to food banks and their community relief funds, and several Rams players are among that group.

After Andrew Whitworth and Jared Goff each donated $250,000 to help the Los Angeles community, Brandin Cooks and Johnny Hekker are also doing their part.

Cooks donated $50,000 to establish Stockton Children’s Fund, helping youth impacted by the coronavirus.

“There are two options,” Cooks said in a statement. “We either attack this head on and conquer it together or we divide and crumble. I am choosing the first option because in my life, I’ve never achieved my goals without a little help from others along the way.”

Cooks is from Stockton, so his donation goes back to helping the area where he grew up. It’ll help with things such as child care services for parents who are currently working after being deemed essential workers, as well as assisting kids in continuing their learning with schools closed.

Hekker is also being active in the community, helping his home state of Washington by joining the Washington Kids in Transition and FareStart foundations.

Washington Kids in Transition “is committed to providing basic needs to homeless children residing in Washington State.” FareStart assists those who are struggling to find unemployment due to poverty or because they’re formerly incarcerated.
