Brand new bar Brockbank & Mellor launches in Liverpool

Liverpool has welcomed a brand new bar just in time for summer and it's right in the middle of Seel Street .

Brockbank & Mellor launched last week, and is home to a huge, 400-capacity bar and an 80-seat dining area.

The venue, which sits between Be At One and Circo, is split over two levels with the bar downstairs and the more intimate restaurant area upstairs.

The restaurant will specialise in small plates and is now open for drinks.

Brockbank & Mellor has stuck with its roots, keeping the Victorian features that remain from when the building housed wine merchants in the late nineteenth century.

The bar also takes from its industrial warehouse history, with elements of concrete, steel and glass instilled in its decor - though it does feature a huge ceiling mural painted by local artist Andy Prior to bring it into the 21st century.

David Wood, owner of Brockbank & Mellor, said:  “I wanted something that felt accessible to everyone.

“When I sat down with our architects, Snook, the vision was to work with the history of the building going back to its days as a wine merchant.

“It's been a long road, but everyone has worked tirelessly to get the site to where it is now.

“I am also proud to say we have also created over 30 jobs at Brockbank & Mellor from part time to full time. Now the real hard work begins.

“I have been in this industry over 25 years and wanted to really add a personal stamp on this site.

“It’s a social space for friends to come and relax and socialise.

“For that reason, we won’t have DJ’s playing, the music will be more of a background feature, so people can sit a talk.

“We have added an extensive wine menu and some great local IPA’s and have a fantastic courtyard space to the rear of the site which is perfect timing now for summer.”

The bar and restaurant is open now, though the kitchen will not start serving food until the end of July.
